is Tapestry’s systematic trading program. Developed by Tapestry Co-Founder Jon Knudsen, Flagship Futures utilizes a suite of systematic models to trade liquid futures markets. The program began trading in May 2008. Flagship Futures is designed to dynamically search for upside (profit) volatility while limiting exposure to markets that are trendless or mean reverting. Flagship Futures’ distinctive approach combines longer term trend following and pattern recognition analysis to systematically identify trades. The Flagship Futures trading strategy applies longer term trend following models to 24 markets, inclusive of Commodity, FX, and Interest Rates. No Equity Indices are traded.
Tapestry was founded in October 2002. Two of the founders, Afroz Qadeer and Jon Knudsen, managed multiple diversified and niche focused multi manager portfolios with combined assets >$3B at Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Strategies Group. During his tenure as a Portfolio Manager at both Goldman Sachs and The Chase Manhattan Bank Mr. Knudsen allocated to both emerging and established hedge funds and managed over $1B in multi manager CTA/Macro portfolios. In addition to evaluating and investing with traders, trading systems, and risk management methodologies, Mr. Knudsen held roles as a “floor” trader on the CME in Chicago, and as an “upstairs” trader managing derivative enhanced portfolios at Chase Manhattan Bank.
The Flagship Futures program which began trading in May, 2008 was founded in part due to a trend by many CTAs to reduce volatility which resulted in overall returns being less dynamic than in the past resulting in profit potential being left on the table.
Flagship Futures invests in US exchange listed futures contracts (long and short) on 24 markets across 7 sectors. Equity market indices are excluded by choice to minimize direct equity market beta.
